Award winning painting

Arya won the 2nd place in the reproduction category at the 3rd Annual International Art Show at Olde Masters Galleria.
She entered the competition with this oil painting on canvas. She completed it under the guidance of her teacher, Cecilia Brendel. It was a reproduction of the original painting by John Singer Sargent: The portrait of Carolus Duran. (1879)
Duran was a great art teacher in Paris who encouraged his students to draw and paint simultaneously using a loaded brush. He was known for his elegant society portraits. Sargent (one of his students) pays homage to his teacher by embracing his fluid technique.
It is incredibly challenging to reproduce this technique to paint this portrait. Congratulations to Arya for attempting this difficult task and receiving the award for it!
