Helping underprivileged girls in their education
दायित्व
Triveni’s primary objective is to promote social interactions amongst the Marathi community within Greater Cincinnati area. In order to advance towards this objective, 2024 committee came up with a 3-pronged agenda around दायित्व, सहभाग आणि स्वास्थ्य. This year we organized events and projects such as monthly yog sessions and 5K runs, blood donation drive, temple pooja, quarterly newsletter, visit to Greater Cincinnati Water Works etc. These were focused on सहभाग आणि स्वास्थ्य.
To promote the culture of दायित्व, we continued the food shelter drive with renewed focus and brought in some changes in the program. This is of course Triveni’s small contribution to our community here in US. We also felt that there is a need to make similar contributions for our society back in Maharashtra.
Contribute to rural girls' education
We identified 5 nonprofit organizations who are doing exemplary work in the areas of education and women empowerment for the people coming from the parts of the society that is underserved. After extensive and structured process of understanding their work, we have decided to work with an organization called Rachana Society for Social Reconstruction (https://rachanasociety.org.in/). Rachana society runs a hostel, school and several other initiatives to empower girls and women from the remote areas around Pune.
To support Rachana's efforts, Triveni Mitra Mandal will provide funding support in 2024. This funding support will be based on donations made by our community. We urge all families in Triveni community to donate generously towards this good cause. This fundraising drive will continue from now onwards until the end of the year and we will have special focus on fundraising during some of our upcoming events.
Rachana’s program supports girl children and women from remote rural areas in Bhor taluka in Maharashtra. Rachana was confronted with the issue of high school dropouts in villages located in hilly isolated mountains & did not have schools after 4th grade or 7th grade. These areas are very difficult to reach, poor parents cannot afford transportation cost, some children have to walk anywhere between 2-12 km to reach a school and in most cases there are no schools after 4th or 7th grade.
Rachana Society provides hostel facility to girl children. This hostel is located in Panshet village and currently supports around 60 girls.
