Event Summary: Event SlideshowUpcoming EventHome Triveni Committee of 2007 thanks all participants and attendees of the Sankrant program celebrated on Jan 20, 2007. The Ankur Samaj Hall was very festive with yellow and red colored theme; with “toran” and a nice glittery banner proclaiming proudly the name of the organization. The function was the fullest it’s ever been in many years with many young and old in attendance, including eight new members. Despite problems with parking people were cheerful and didn’t mind the inconvenience! After a tasty snack and a nice cup of hot coffee/ tea (thanks to all the women who made the yummy ‘Chivda’) people were treated to entertainment by children and adults. Initiated by a prathana, it was a nice collection of patriotic songs (directed by Mrunal and Sujit Upadhyay) and devotional songs (directed by Ashwini Barve). There was a skit about the significance of sun’s movement across the constellation (written by Niteen Bapat and directed by Nirmaltai Deo), and amidst of all these, a vaad-vivaad broke out with emotional members airing their experiences and expectations about Triveni programs. Luckily, a ‘joona member’ Keshav Kode was there to calm down the proceedings. The singers and actors ranged in age from barely three to adults!! We have some amazing talent -- keep it up, everybody! As this was the first program of the year for this committee and we wanted the new-comers and the old-comers to get to know each other we had some games conducted by Vidayanand Joshi; the crowd participated enthusiastically. At the same time the children were being entertained by a clown/ magician. Uday Patil handled the audio as our new sound engineer, Deepa Khambe kept the show on time, and Trupti Deshpande got the proceedings going as the compere. Thanks to all these, and the participants, a good time was had by everybody. Even though the crowd was large there was no chaos or confusion; thanks to the patience of the members, and also the arrangement of serving food to men and children while the ladies were getting their haldi-kumkum and ‘vaan’. There was much camaraderie among the sisterhood. Ya! Ya! The food served, as usual was superb; thanks to Uma Shah and all her energetic helpers. We were amazed and grateful to the energy and extent of help we (the committee members) received at the end of the program! There was no dearth of people showing up to clean the dishes, put away the food, put away the furniture, remove all decorations, sweep the floors and other myriad things that go into putting on a communal program such as this. Our heartfelt thanks to everybody. We have received mostly positive feedback about this program and are mulling over some of the others; thanks to everybody who took the time to give us their valued opinions.
